I found myself looking for a moisturizing product that would soothe my eczema and not cause irritation - because I am so sensitive. Since I don’t do well with products that contain plant oils and didn’t want to use petroleum jelly (Vaseline) either, I knew I had to become more open-minded - especially having been vegetarian and vegan for a large part of my life - and consider putting tallow on my skin. Actually this is what our ancestors did. After all, tallow or beef fat is very similar to the oils in our own skin which makes it more compatible and won’t cause an adverse skin reaction.
After experimenting for a while I came up with a balm that worked best for me. The tallow is extremely nourishing and moisturizing which is wonderful for my feet and legs where I have very dry skin and it greatly alleviated the itchiness caused by eczema, rashes and mosquito bites. The balm has helped my skin to heal and nails to strengthen. The beeswax gives the balm a smooth texture which is very soothing to the skin. And for lip balm, I wanted to create one that didn’t tingle.
The tallow is from 100% grass-fed cows. Animals store their toxins in their fat so it is very important to get tallow from animals that are fed well and treated well. Also, I made sure that the tallow was rendered well because I do not want to smell of beef. I can happily say that the balm has a natural pleasant sweet smell. People often tell me how nice it smells. The containers are glass which doesn’t leach into the product and it is eco-friendly.
I started giving the balm to others to try and it has sped up their lip and skin healing and soothed their irritated skin too, be it from allergies, eczema, sunburn or wounds and cuts.
Customers began to tell me how they used the balm on their dogs to soothe itchy or dry noses and pads. The balm also sped up the healing of any scrapes or wounds. These dog lovers tried the very same Tallow & Beeswax Balm on their furry friends with wonderful results. The balm can be used for cats too.
